What You'll See...

Duren Homes customizes every home we build.  We start with the lot:  Where are the views?  Where does the natural light come from?  What natural features will the homeowner most enjoy?  How can we site the home to take advantage of these factors?  What will the family see when approaching in a car?  What will a guest see when walking to the front door?

Once we've selected a design, we go further:  Given the lighting conditions in the kitchen, what type of cabinetry, flooring, and counters will be most appropriate?  Considering the approach of visitors, will a front door with full glass be best or should we use a more opaque door?  Does the proximity of neighbors dictate that we install landscaping that’s more mature than typical?

Finally, we make sure the details bring the home together harmoniously.  Our cabinet hardware coordinates with our light fixtures.  The interior millwork compliments the plumbing fixtures.  Marble surrounding the living room fireplace relates to the palette of the kitchen backsplash. 

What does all this effort gain?  The first time you walk into the house, you notice that everything just feels “right”.  It’s comfortable and fashionable.  The rooms are beautifully lit.  The yards are thoughtful and relate well to the neighborhood setting.  Over time, you may come to appreciate some of the subtler touches, such as the sightline from the kitchen sink to the family room, the skylight that gives you a sunny stairwell all day long, or the way the morning sun illuminates your master shower.

What You Won't See...

Duren Homes believes that a key to our long term success rests in building a home that goes the extra mile, even when the differences may not be apparent at first glance.  Look closely, look beyond the meticulous craftsmanship and luxurious finishes and you’ll see that our beauty is more than skin-deep.
 

For instance, we use only premium Douglas fir framing lumber in our walls and solid-joist floors, never the inferior hemlock found in most competing homes.  Douglas fir is stronger and more dimensionally stable than hemlock, which means you’ll be less likely to see annoying drywall cracks and “nail pops” over time. 

Our cabinets are constructed from furniture-grade hardwood faces and plywood boxes, not the cheaper particle board and veneer “edge tape” you’ll usually find.  Open one of our cabinets once and you may not see a difference.  But open it thousands of times over your time in the home and you’ll see hinges that don’t sag, drawers that still glide effortlessly. 

Each home incorporates many of these “hidden” features.  Extra-heavy carpet padding, premium quality paints, top grade cedar shingles, deck boards with finish on the front and back... the list goes on.  We take great pride in our homes, and want that pride still to show for years to come.
